5 Days of Frugal Stocking Stuffer Ideas: Day 1= Girls

Today is a SPECIAL DAY. Today is the start of a FIVE-DAY SERIES taking place this week here on this blog. Every day this week I will be discussing the all-important STOCKING STUFFER. This is a crucial topic, because the contents of the stocking are the first thing my kids see on Christmas morning! So your typical stocking stuffer stash must be filled with wondiferous items, all guaranteed to bring pleasure and joy — without breaking the bank.

We’ve got five areas of stocking stuffer ideas to cover:

Girls (below)
Boys (Tuesday)
Teens (Wednesday)
Educational (Thursday)
For everyone! (Friday)

In each of these five areas, I will give you tried and true suggestions for stocking stuffers that don’t cost very much money. Because the plain truth is that stocking stuffers alone can send the Christmas shopping budget into a nosedive! This holiday season I have resolved that we are not going to use debt!! It’s cash or nothing this time around. So that means that unless the stockings are going to be sparsely populated, we need ideas for good, CHEAP, things to stuff in them.

So let’s get started right away with the list of stocking stuffer ideas for girls!

1) Sunglasses — at this time of year they might be a little hard to find, but the beauty of that is that when you do, they are usually on clearance. I never spend more than $5 on sunglasses for the kids, because they tend to lose or break them so much…

2) Hair Elastics — in our family with four girls, we go through these A LOT. If I buy each girl their own package, maybe they will last a little longer. And maybe there will be fewer fights about them, lol — at least I hope so. :-)

3) Lip gloss — my girls of all ages love these EOS Lip Balm Spheres. But any lip gloss is usually quite inexpensive, and you can pick a flavor your girl will love.

4) Friendship bracelet yarn — which is really just embroidery floss. This is cheap everywhere. You can get a package of colors or just buy several single ones and still provide hours of entertainment. If your girl has never made these before, you can find tutorials on the web.

5) Glue Sticks — if your girl is a crafter, then these are always welcome! Stock her up now and she won’t bug you for months!

6) Jacks — I’m actually not impressed with the price for the ones at the link I have here, but I wanted to show you what I meant, since jacks are not as common anymore. But I have found them at the W-mart toy section, in the part where the dollar toys are. Girls still love playing jacks, just as much as we did when we were little.

7) Rainbow loom bands — yes, these can add up quickly, so I only get a package or two for the stocking. But if your girl likes the Rainbow Loom like mine does, she will always want more colors!

8) Fuzzy socks — the ones I linked to are cute, but you can usually find all sorts of patterns and colors for even less money at the sock department of W-mart or Kmart or Meijer or wherever…

9) Nail polish — I just get the Wet n’ Wild or other cheap (like $1) brand… crazy colors are always fun!

10) Coloring book and crayons — even older girls will enjoy a chance to color again. The adult coloring books they have out now would be really neat, but the ones for kids are much cheaper.
