What St. Patrick Can Teach Us About Faith, Finances, and Stewardship
Forget chasing a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Real treasure isn’t luck or legend — it’s stewardship…how we manage what God’s already placed in our hands. What I have in my hands is going to be different than what you have in yours. And that’s totally okay!
We all have different time, talents, and resources. It’s what WE do with them that matters! We all have money, time, and choices, including how we educate our kids!
Every decision you make at the kitchen table, from the budget spreadsheet to the homeschool lesson plan, is an act of stewardship. That was something St. Patrick understood: wealth grows when faith leads the way.
☘️ The Myth vs. The Mission
Every March 17, we see rainbows, shamrocks, slogans, and images that promise a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Irish folklore suggests that mischievous leprechauns hid their treasure where the rainbow meets the ground — a spot no one could ever reach. The “pot of gold” became a symbol of luck and pursuit, and honestly, an unattainable dream
However, St. Patrick’s real story runs deeper.
Captured and enslaved as a teen, Patrick escaped, then courageously returned to Ireland to share the Gospel with those who once enslaved him. His reward wasn’t gold — it was faith fulfilled and lives transformed.
His famous Breastplate Prayer shows where his true riches lie:
“Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me.”
For Patrick, success meant living surrounded by Christ, not chasing fortune.

Faith, Freedom, and Finances
For homeschool families, provision usually comes through patience and purpose, not luck. We work, budget, teach, build, and give — and every bit of that is stewardship.
Scripture never condemns wealth honestly earned. It calls us to use it well:
“Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.” — Deut. 8:18
Real prosperity is the freedom to provide, give, and educate our children according to conviction. That’s the kind of blessing money can serve, not replace.
The “pot of gold” isn’t something we find — it’s something we build through faithful stewardship of what He’s already given.
Stewardship takes many forms — how we earn, give, spend, and even how we educate our children.
When Christ is before and behind us, every decision becomes part of that golden reward: a life that shines with purpose, generosity, and freedom.
