What’s the Carnivore Diet Have to do with Education, anyway?

Hey everyone! It’s Lisa Nehring here, and today, I’m diving into something a little different—but trust me, it’s all connected. I’ve been on an 8-month journey with the carnivore diet, and along the way, I’ve learned some fascinating things that apply not only to my health but to how we approach education, too. Yeah, I know, it might sound strange at first. How could a diet tie into choosing the right form of education? But stick with me because this all comes together in a really cool way!

My Carnivore Journey

So, let’s rewind about 8 months ago. I was dealing with some pretty frustrating health issues, some genetic, some tied to an injury, some, undoubtedly having to do with getting older! I tried the typical solutions: eating “balanced” meals, adding more veggies, taking the supplements that were supposed to fix everything. But honestly? Nothing was working. It was like I was spinning my wheels and not getting anywhere.

That’s when I came across the carnivore diet. I’ll admit, at first, it sounded extreme. Only eating meat? Really? But when nothing else was helping, I thought, “Why not try something totally different?” And I have to say, going carnivore has given me hope about reversing some issues that I was feeling pretty hopeless about.

Now, here’s the thing. One of the biggest takeaways from my carnivore journey is that sometimes, less is more. We often think we need this huge variety of foods—fruits, vegetables, grains, the whole rainbow. But when I simplified my diet to just one core food group—meat—it actually provided me with everything I needed. It was a high-quality solution, without all the extra noise. And sometimes, that’s all it takes to thrive: fewer options, but the right ones.

How This Connects to Education

So what does this have to do with education? Well, a lot, actually! Think about it. In our society, we’re constantly bombarded with endless educational options—traditional schools, online programs, co-ops, dual enrollment, curriculum after curriculum. And while variety can be great, it can also be overwhelming and leave us second-guessing our choices.

When I was going through all those health issues, what I really needed was a simple, high-quality solution that worked for me. And I think the same applies to education. We don’t need to be running around trying to check every single box. Sometimes, choosing one solid program—whether it’s a homeschool curriculum or an online academy, or a more alternative route—can deliver everything your child needs.

True North Online Academy, for example, offers focused, high-quality classes with teachers who are passionate about their subjects. It’s not about having a ton of choices; it’s about choosing the right path that truly serves your child’s needs, without all the unnecessary distractions.

The Power of Simplicity

Whether it’s your diet or your approach to education, simplicity can be incredibly powerful. The carnivore diet taught me that I didn’t need to keep adding more stuff to my plate to feel better. In fact, the opposite was true. And with education, I see the same thing. You don’t need to overcomplicate things to deliver a super high-quality program for your kids. Sometimes, focusing on a few key elements—the core essentials—can be the most effective approach.

It’s about finding what works and sticking to it. The key is to simplify, focus, and trust that you’re giving your kids the best. Less really can be more!

So whether you’re searching for the right diet or the right educational path, my advice is this: don’t get caught up in all the noise. Sometimes, fewer options can actually mean more freedom. By focusing on the essentials—whether it’s in what you eat or how you educate—you can create a life that’s healthier, simpler, and a whole lot more fulfilling.
